DevBar — drinking establishment for employees of the IT industry and beyond (St. Petersburg)

For a long time my partner and I hatched the idea of organizing a bar-oriented IT professionals.

We developers live in Saint-Petersburg and often after work like to go for a couple (if lucky) glasses of any alcoholic beverages, discussing various work and simple questions.

At one point we caught ourselves on the fact that the market is not lack of institutions specifically targeted at us. There are Irish pubs, sports bars, biker bars. But the workers are such an important industry, for some reason, I forgot everything. When I was in Holland, I noticed drinking establishments for doctors, police officers, firefighters, gardeners, scavengers, and a bunch of places with a professional concept. In our country such a focus is not yet developed.

Therefore, it is planned to organize a small stage for speakers, which for certain bonuses can share their knowledge with visitors. All equipment is, of course, provided.

Pricing

Representatives of the IT industry are different. To what extent are students in most — employed professionals, i.e., sufficient solvent audience. But we decided not to become elite expensive bar and stay between the cheapest market players and average players. That students were, where to spend time in a circle of interesting people, and experienced specialists are not had to leave with an empty wallet and a credit card at the overdraft. According to plan, our "average" is 30% lower than the average hospital.

Partner was originally offered to sleep somewhere in a residential area on a "we are so cool, make the trip." But after talking with experienced people, we decided that we needed to do smarter. We looked at where most of the IT companies in the city (literally, on the map), the estimated vector of the home of most of the staff and have chosen the best enough passage. Oddly enough, it was not center and the Petrograd district (northings). There are now looking for suitable area.

In fact, a similar institution, in our opinion, much easier to spin than a regular "Irish super pub". The originality of the institution and specific target audience will do the trick (we studied the same experience of the Dutch colleagues). And word of mouth has not been canceled.

Many will say that such entertainments we are undermining the industry from the inside. We sincerely believe that nice leisure activities and people's ways of apollania improve the productivity of every visitor.
Moreover, as described above, we provide conditions not only for drinking, but also for work. Partly, it's even a coworking center with a high-low split poker and beautiful ladies.

At the moment we have ready calculations of the cost of starting up, the initial lists of purchases (from food to the bar) and a detailed business plan. There is also a part of the starting capital and some representatives of the market. Now we are actively looking for an investor.

In any case we will implement this idea, but we wonder how it will comment on the representatives of the largest IT community of our country. Probably slip useful suggestions or obvious flaws in our plan that we have not seen through tired eyes.
